Neolithic Archaeology: The program is oriented towards Chinese prehistoric archaeological culture, the origin and development of Chinese civilization, field archaeology, and archaeological theory and methods. It is dedicated to building a knowledge and discipline system of “Chinese archaeology based on field archaeology”.
Archaeology of Xia, Shang and Zhou Dynasties: The program centres on archaeological research of Central Plains during the Xia, Shang and Zhou Dynasties, and takes the neighbouring and frontier areas into account. It develops relevant research on early states and national culture encompassing the diverse views of historical materials and the state forms of Xia, Shang and Zhou dynasties.
Pre-Han Northeast Archaeology: The program centers on related research of pre-Han archaeological culture in Northeast China. It has put forward a systematic academic viewpoint. Through the study of archaeology in Northeast China and related regions, it provides reference for “Central Plains and Borderland” and “Frontier Archaeology”.
