In line with its vision of International Collaboration and Exchanges—“Top 100, Five Continents, Diversity, and Sustainability”, the School of Archaeology enjoys close links with overseas universities and research institutes, including Durham University, UK, Columbia University, USA, Pittsburgh University, USA, Oregon University, USA, The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, Simon Fraser University, Canada, the University of Toronto, Canada, Hebrew University, Israel, Tokyo University, Japan, Kyushu University, Japan, Pusan National University, South Korea, Siberian Federal University, Russia, Irkutsk National Research Technical University, Russia, National University of Mongolia, etc.

  From these prestigious overseas universities, JLU has hired 1 honorary professor, 1 guest professor, 4 “Kuang Yaming Scholars” lecture professors, and 7 lecture professors of the School of Archaeology. It co-established the “Bio-Archaeology Joint Laboratory” with Simon-Fraser University. Based on its leading role in the Asian module of the “Global Health Histories Project”, it established the “International Research Center for Bioarchaeology”.

  The School of Archaeology adheres to the policy of “Alliance between top-level educational institutions, universities and local institutes”. It has signed strategic cooperation framework agreements with the Palace Museum, the National Museum of China, the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontologyy and Paleoanthropology with the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Archaeology, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Jilin Provincial Bureau of Cultural Heritage, Shanxi Provincial Cultural Relics Bureau and other national and local institutes, in order to carry out all-round exchanges, cooperation and joint training.

  The School also invited the following reputed experts as JLU adjunct faculty—researcher Shan Jixiang, former dean of the Palace Museum, researcher Wang Chunfa, director of the National Museum of China, researcher Chen Xingcan, director of the Institute of Archaeology, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and Gao Xing, former deputy director of the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. In addition, JLU regularly launches exchange programs in collaboration with domestic key universities, in order to foster Intercollegiate academic exchanges. The school established a National Archaeological Forum to encourage university students to participate in academic seminars.
